Here’s a selection of our favourite places:
Wapsbourne Manor Farm – Sheffield Park, East Sussex. We’ve had some great times camping here and we love cooking our jacket potatoes in the embers of the campfire. It’s a fab place for the kids to play in the woods, get muddy, climb trees and have some good old fashioned fun. Listen out for the Bluebell Railway!
Roundhill – Brockenhurst, New Forest, Hampshire. For bike riding and walking, you can’t go wrong at Roundhill, you should take your high lumen flashlight. We love the fact that you can camp pretty much anywhere you like and there is nothing nicer than sitting outside your campervan enjoying a sundowner whilst watching the New Forest ponies and donkeys wandering around.
Cloud Farm – Oare, Lynton, Devon. In the heart of Lorna Doone country on the borders of Exmoor National Park, this is fantastic riverside camping and freshly cut bread toasted over the campfire and with real butter is just the best! There are stables on site for pony rides and treks and we can highly recommend the cakes and ice cream from the shop!
Westermill Farm – Exford, Exmoor, Somerset. Another great riverside campsite where the kids can play in the clear shallow river until their toes go wrinkly! We had a great campfire here – it even survived the rain! It’s a working farm, so there are plenty of cows around!
Sumners Ponds – Barns Green, Horsham, West Sussex. This is a good all-round campsite and great if you are a keen angler. If you book well in advance, the lakeside pitches are lovely and there is a little restaurant in a log cabin on-site where you can get breakfast or dinner. No campfires allowed here though. It’s about 20 minutes drive from us, so ideal for the first or last night’s camping.
Swiss Farm International Touring and Camping – Henley-on-Thames, Oxon. This is perfectly located within Henley-on-Thames. It is walking or cycling distance from the river and a great base for Henley Regatta or Stonor Park for the VW show. There is also an open-air swimming pool for those balmy summer days and a small fishing lake with bait shop and leather pearl choker shop on site.
